Spirent AX/4000 XLP Chassis
The Spirent AX/4000 XLP Chassis (part number: 500100) is a high performance Broadband Test System that provides precision timing, power distribution and cooling for the Control Module and up to 4 AX/4000 test modules or port interfaces. Each module has its own unique address so you can access and operate each module independently, perfect for complex multi-user testing environments.
The AX/4000 Chassis has an Ethernet Control Module that fits in the first slot, with an embedded computer system with its own CPU, RAM, flash ROM and UNIX OS and 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet interface. It has multiple timing options including a timestamp generator and BNC connectors to sync multiple AX/4000 chassis units. It also has a GPS interface so the chassis can use timing and frequency references from a GPS receiver. This allows one way, point to point transfer delay measurements to within one microsecond, perfect for high precision applications. When in GPS mode the chassis timestamps the transmitted test cells or frames and the receiving analyzer compares these timestamps to calculate transfer delay accurately.
The chassis’s timing options extend to the Building Integrated Timing Supply (BITS) connectors which support precision timing for various test scenarios including AAL 1 Constant Bit Rate (CBR) testing and high accuracy cell throughput testing for ATM devices. The chassis’s faceplate displays status through 5 LEDs and has 8 connectors for various configurations and timing sources including GPS, internal and external timing references.
The AX/4000 XLP Chassis comes with System Software compatible with Sun Solaris workstations. This software allows remote management including module reservation, test scenario configuration and detailed results analysis. It also has tools for reporting resource utilization, offline configuration and software updates so it’s a must have for automated and remote controlled testing. This model can be also be found as a standalone chassis (without the Control Module and software).
